As part of the changes introduced with Microsoft Windows 11, the process for updating your password has changed. Passwords must now be changed online using your Microsoft account, rather than directly on your computer.
This new approach offers several benefits:
You can change your password from any location, including from home—no need to be on the division network.
If you already know your password and would simply like to change it, you can do so at any time.
The process aligns with modern security practices, improving the overall protection of your account.
If you ever forget your password, please reach out to the Tech Team. We’ll provide you with a unique password to get you back into your account. From there, you can follow the steps below to update your password to one of your choosing.
How to Change Your Microsoft Password
Open a web browser and go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
Log in using your Microsoft account credentials. If prompted, enter your multi-factor authentication (MFA) code.
From the landing page, you’ll see a list of Microsoft Cloud Apps you have access to. If you see the Change Password tile on the main page, click it and follow the instructions.
If you do not see the Change Password link, click the Account Manager button in the top-right corner (this will either show your initials or your uploaded photo) and select View Account.
Follow the presented instructions to change your password. You may be asked to enter your current password as well.
Please do not reuse a previous password.
Your password should be at least eight characters long.
It should include a mix of characters, such as uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
Click Submit.
Restart your device and wait 5–10 minutes for the new password to sync.
After this, you’ll be able to log in to your device using the new password.
