The School has its own Infirmary. A nurse is on duty every day from 08h to 18h. Students are asked not to make routine visits before 09h30.
Parents are requested not to send children to school if they are unwell or running a temperature. If you are aware that your child has an infectious illness, please let the Infirmary know as soon as possible.
Other than in an emergency, if a student feels ill or has an accident, he/she should go to the Principal's Administrative Assistant who will decide if the student needs to go to the Infirmary. If either the Secretary or the Nurse feels it necessary to send the student home they will endeavour to contact the parent. Students who are feeling unwell must not go home without first having gone via the Infirmary.
The Nurses cope with any students or staff requiring urgent First Aid treatment. One of their main tasks is following the State of Geneva's directions concerning the health of school children, which includes checking regularly students’ eyesight and hearing. The Infirmary has information on personal health (including drug abuse and sex education).
We ask all parents to ensure that the Infirmary has up-to-date medical information on their child – allergies, illnesses etc. We also need your consent to administer specific medications. More specific information/permission may be required for trips away from school.
If your son or daughter is unfit to participate in a timetabled PE lesson, please write a note (dated and signed) to the PE teacher. This note should then be shown before the lesson to the teacher who will instruct the student as to how they are to spend the lesson. Long-term absence from PE requires a medical certificate from a doctor.
