All students are allocated a mentor. The mentor should normally be the first contact if a parent has a concern about their child.
Mentors meet their groups on a weekly timetabled basis, dealing with absences, school notices, and the social and academic welfare and progress of the individual students in their group. During the mentor period the mentor will also discuss class issues and will cover a variety of personal, social and educational issues.
Each Year is also assigned one or more Year Heads who have important roles in coordinating and overseeing the work and welfare of the Year as a whole. Year groups have regular assemblies, and occasional activities such as Sports Day or Mentor Days.
Occasional meetings for parents are arranged either by the School or the PTA at which pastoral or general interests can be presented of discussed.
PTA coffee mornings are also used for discussion with Year Heads and other members of staff.
The Psychologist and the School Nurses also play important roles in supporting the well-being of all students.
