On October 13th, the Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit hosted the Keystone STEM Competition. This was a competition that 5th-12th graders could compete in. In the competition, students had 2 hours to use materials provided to solve a real world problem.
At the beginning of the competition, several speakers gave words of encouragement for all of the students. After they spoke, the students were told their challenge for the day.
Their challenge was to create a design that would better improve schools all over Pennsylvania.
The students worked on their designs for two hours, and then judges came around to observe designs and listen to each group's presentation. Once the judges had visited everyone’s designs, they spoke about each design's creativity, organization, and usefulness. The judges gave the host the winners and the host read them aloud. Unfortunately, LMMS didn’t place. But even though LMMS didn’t place, it was still a fun and exciting time for everyone.
