Hey LMMS did you know...
All the things about music that this school has to offer, like the school choir and the band and orchestra! Are you interested about what is going to happen with music this year? With lots of information on the school’s musical strings, let’s get playing the tunes of reading!
Chorus
Chorus is a special choir that sings beautiful tunes that make people want to dance along, and we can't wait for what they are going to do next! Now for someone who can give good information, the Chorus director Mrs. McCartney says, ’’Chorus is an elective class,which means students don't need to participate in it if they don't want to. These students will sing together in a group during ninth period on a rotating schedule by grade level. Students perform in a winter and spring concert. Any student can join the chorus with parent permission,and as long as grades are being met. The winter concerts are December 10 and 11 at 7:00pm in the LMMS auditorium. The spring concerts are May 12 and 14 at the same place and time. There also are cadence, Treble choir, Aksents and Barbershop Quartets. Cadence is the auditioned group. Treble choir is an all girls group, Aksents is an all boys group, and Barbershop Quartets are the eight grade auditioned groups.”
Band
The band is a group of people who play certain instruments like percussion, flute, trumpet, drums, and more. With their upbeat and energetic songs, it will sure get the people dancing! And here to give you more info is Mr Klick. ’’Our band at school is made up of students who play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. These students take lessons during the school day and play together during 9th period as a large group. We perform at several concerts and events during the school year. Band is available for anyone who is willing to learn an instrument. The band has two concerts over the year. We also play at pep rallies and with the high school band at a football game once a year. There’s a group called the jazz band which rehearses Tuesday after school. This group uses all the band instruments plus guitar, pianos, and drum set.”
Orchestra
An orchestra is a group of musicians who play instruments such as Bass, Cello, Viola, and Violin. There are groups that meet every other day and learn things that are right for the students’ levels. In the words of Mrs. Arnold, "Orchestra is a community of students that enjoy making music together with string instruments. Anyone that plays string instruments or anyone who wants to learn a string instrument like violin, viola, cello, or bass. We perform two times a year, with a winter concert and a spring concert in LMMS auditorium. We do have a chamber group for advanced students that audition and that’s the only special group.”
Spring Musical
The spring musical is a play that is held at the auditorium every year. They practice after school and have amazing performances. As I have heard, there have been some pretty good ones in the past. Now some information from Mr.Campbell, ’’Every spring, we put on a major spring musical production. Anyone can audition and apply but you have to get picked to be in the musical. You can audition for the cast or the pit orchestra, or you can also apply to be in the crew. We perform in the auditorium March 19, 20 and 21. For special groups, you can be in the general ensemble. Usually there will be small groups with groups of ten, the dance ensemble, or you can be a major or minor character. There will be an information meeting for interested performers in late December; Auditions are January 5, 6 and 7.
