Cheering, stomping of people’s feet, and pride are all things you can find at a pep rally. On Wednesday, September 24, LMMS had its fall pep rally. At the start of the pep rall,y different sports, such as cross country, football, and cheerleading, showed off their school spirit. School spirit can help with academics, morale in schools, and overall happiness in a school.
At the pep rally, students played three games. The first game is an event where participants had to run to the other side of the gym without one shoe on, and then run back after putting it on, the first team to get everyone at the end was the winner, but in reality everyone was the winner, because they got to participate in one of the pep rallies. The second game was the “Crab Walk Relay”, where “crabs” had to crab walk from one side of the gym to another, and then the next teammate would go. The first team that had all of their players crab walk across the gym won. The third game, and my personal favorite, is the “Pizza Box Melee”, where players get an empty pizza box, and have to hold it up above their head whilst trying to eliminate other players by knocking it off their head. The last player standing wins.
Many good things can come out of a pep rally, it can increase membership and spectators to their school's team, one way LMMS does this is by showing their sports teams to everybody. This could help a student with deciding which sports team to join. This practice could also make kids want to go to a sports game. I for one saw the football team at this year's fall pep rally, and decided to go to the high school’s football game, and it was fun. I think pep rallies can be very helpful for students.
