MathCounts is an afterschool club open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that prepares for a nationwide math competition along with fostering a love for math, run by Ms. Kohutka, the 8th grade math teacher on Team All-Stars.
In late February, the team attended the regional math competition. Here's what happened:
The students participated in the individual sprint and target rounds. Four students then played in the team round. Unfortunately, the team did not make it to the countdown round this year (the round with top ten students from all schools). However, one of our competitors on the school team placed 18th out of the 132 students participating from all schools which is a big accomplishment! Additionally the school placed 9th out of the 16 competing teams, an improvement from last year.
Congratulations to all for giving it their best shot this year!!!
