There are more than 16,000 endangered animals in the world. Some animals that are no longer on the endangered animals list are Pandas, Southern White Rhinoceros’, Yellowstone Grizzly Bears, Manatees and the Bald Eagle. Some of the more well known animals that are still endangered are Mountain gorillas, Blue whales, Asian elephants, Chimpanzees, and Monarch butterflies.
We have to take care of these animals to make sure they don’t go extinct. Some animals become endangered because of climate change, illegal hunting, or the loss of their habitats. For example, people hunt elephants to use their tucks for ivory. Ivory is used for art and carvings, musical instruments, and luxury items. Another example is how chimpanzees are losing their homes because of deforestation (which is the removal of trees).
There are many ways that we can try to help save endangered animals. You could help preserve forests by planting more trees. Recycling can help keep plastics and other trash out of the oceans. You can also avoid buying items that are made from endangered animals. If we are all kind and work together, we can make a difference in these animals lives.
