MURIEL CHATTERTON

Muriel Richardson Chatterton (1899-2008) Muriel will be most remembered for her devotion to the church and to her family, her excellence as a teacher, and her wisdom, quick wit, and loving nature. She touched many lives through the years and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Muriel graduated from Cobleskill High School and cum laude from the University of Vermont with a B.A. degree. After graduation she taught Latin and French in Randolph, Vt. and later in East Hampton, Long Island. For 50 years she lived in the communities of Esperance, Central Bridge and Delanson, Saratoga Springs and later New Port Richey, Fla. While living in Esperance, she earned her master's degree in education from SUNY Oneonta. Muriel taught kindergarten at the Duanesburg Elementary School for 21 years, retiring in 1975. She was recognized as an outstanding teacher. Muriel was active in local units of the United Methodist Women all her life and served a term as president of the Albany District United Methodist Women.Â
