NICK GWIAZDOWSKI

CLASS OF 2011 | WRESTLING CHAMPION

Nick graduated from Duanesburg in 2011.  He was a 2 time NYS Champion for Duanesburg High School, where he went 50-0 as a senior, and managed to not have a single opponent last the entire six minutes of a match with him.  At the time of his graduation from Duanesburg he held the records for most career wins(199), most career pins(123), most victories in one season(50), tied for most state titles(2), and the quickest pin(5 seconds).

Nick earned All-American honors as a true freshman at Binghamton University in 2012 (8th at 285).  He then transferred to North Carolina State University and redshirted the 2012-13 season to preserve his NCAA eligibility.  While there he was then a three-time All-American for the Wolfpack, twice a national champion (2014 & 2015) and once a runner-up (2016), while competing at the 285 lb. heavyweight division. 

Nick has made the USA World Team 4 different times.  Gwiazdowski has won two bronze medals at the World Championships in 2017 and 2018 and has captured a Pan American Games title and two Pan American Championships for Team USA.  In 2020 he was positioned to be Team USA’s Heavyweight for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo before they were postponed due to COVID.

He currently serves as a volunteer coach at Cornell University, working with their heavyweight wrestlers, as he himself, continues to train.
