GUM

Gum chewing is not allowed in the Wycallis Primary Center. Please help us maintain a clean, sanitary environment for your child. Do not allow your student to bring gum to school.

PRACTICE FOR EMERGENCIES

Wycallis students will regularly practice for a variety of school emergencies, including fire, serious weather problems, and intruders on campus. Our students, teachers, and staff need to know the recommended “safe schools” procedures.

INDIVIDUAL STUDENT SAFETY

The school will not distribute personal mail to students. Relatives and friends need to know that mail addressed to a student will be returned to the sender. If there is no return address, the item will be destroyed.

BOARD POLICY #716 – Integrated Pest Management

The school district shall utilize integrated pest management procedures to manage structural and landscape pests and the toxic chemicals used for their control in order to alleviate pest problems with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

COMMUNICATION

The Dallas School District Parents’ Advisory Council allows parents to provide input into school policies and practices. The Council is made up of parent representatives from each school, a school board member, school principals, and the Superintendent of Schools. A copy of the Parent Input Form can be found on the District Web-page under the Parent Advisory Council Tab.

CELL PHONES

Please turn off your cell phone when you enter the school to maintain an appropriate educational environment. Parents may not use cell phones when acting as playground volunteers.

BIRTHDAY AND PARTY INVITATIONS

If your child wishes to distribute invitations to their birthday or any other type of party, ALL students in the child’s class must be included. You may also invite just the boys, or just the girls in the class but please make sure that all of the students of that gender are included. If you are not planning to invite all of the students in the class, we ask that you do not send in the invitations to school for distribution, and that you mail the invitations to which ever students you wish. We do not want any students to feel left out or excluded, so please make sure to follow this procedure. Thank you.

ACT 26

Act 26 of the Pennsylvania Legislature requires the following: “A school district shall expel, for a period of not less than one (1) year, any student who is determined to have brought a weapon onto school property, or any school-sponsored activity.” Pocket knives, box cutters and other cutting devices are classified as weapons according to Act 26. Remind students never to take such implements, weapons, or replicas of weapons including toys to school.
