Determining an individual’s starting point is key in complying with ESFA funding requirements and ensuring that the apprenticeship programme provided meets the required needs of the apprentice.
Section 4 in the Apprenticeship Learning Plan was developed to ensure that all of the information gathered throughout the initial assessment process is properly reviewed to determine a clear starting point, identify what knowledge and skills the apprentice already has and identify those that need to be developed to ensure successful completion.
This is the point where you need to view every apprentice as an individual and not just apply minimum or maximum duration to the length of programme (unless specified within the standard)
You also need to acknowledge that where recognition of prior skills and experience has taken place, then the length of programme and cost needs to be adjusted accordingly.
