Cognassist is an assessment that looks at the neurodiversity of an apprentice and how they think and learn.
The assessment that is completed will also determine whether the apprentice requires any additional support so it is an important part of the initial assessment process.
The information provided will identify whether additional lessons or support from the ALS team will be required, which will determine the end date of the apprenticeship along with the other information gathered at initial assessment.
This assessment will also provide valuable information to assessors and tutors on how the apprentice thinks and learns, and needs consideration when working in groups or 1-1.
The assessment takes about 30 minutes to complete, the apprentice will need to be fully focussed if the assessment is to be a true reflection of their neurodiversity.
Once the assessment is completed, the results will be available to the apprentice and the assessor.
If the apprentice has matched in one or two cognitive domains they will be able to access monthly strategies relating to those domains. There are 4 strategies per month for the apprentice to complete, every month until they reach gateway.
If the apprentice has matched in more that two cognitive domains they should be referred to the college's ALS department to ensue they receive the right support.
