This unit explains the concept of the aquatic ecosystem as it relates to fish populations and angling. A brief overview of different baits and lures will provide students some background information necessary to better understand why baits or lures attract certain fish.

Objectives
Students will become acquainted with the concept of an aquatic ecosystem.
They will relate this ecological concept to the ways in which baits and lures are used to pursue different fish species.
Students will become familiar with a variety of live and prepared baits, how to effectively present them, and the types of fish for which they are used.
Students will become familiar with different types of artificial lures, the kinds of fish for which they are used, and how to effectively present them.
