Our new English Enhancement Programme invites top-performing students from each form to advance their English skills. Selected based on their final exam results, these students will explore diverse topics to prepare them for future challenges.
The curriculum is tailored by level: S1-S3 will build comprehensive English skills, while S4-S6 will concentrate on DSE Examination preparation.
We are grateful to the school for the resources that support this initiative.
Today, the school campus was imbued with a delightful fragrance as the Floral Art and Arrangement Workshop unfolded.
The event brought together dedicated parent volunteers and eager student participants in the School Ground Hall. Collaboratively, they learned the delicate art of composing a floral arrangement, focusing on securing blooms into florist foam (often called 'floral mud') nestled within a decorative basket.
Beyond the practical skills, this workshop provided a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary learning. Students actively engaged with the English language, mastering the proper names for various flowers and floristry tools. This blend of horticultural practice and linguistic acquisition ensured a rich and enjoyable experience for all involved.
The atmosphere was one of shared enjoyment and creative concentration. We anticipate the delightful surprise on the faces of our subject teachers when their students present their beautifully arranged, handcrafted baskets of flowers in the classrooms!
An enthusiastic group of S2 students was invited to Mr. Neil's fun-filled English lunch session! Students meet at the English Corner to tackle a variety of engaging and enjoyable tasks. It's a fantastic, low-pressure way to absorb new English vocabulary and phrases while having a great time. Best of all? Students can bring a friend (+1) to share the fun and enjoy the moment together!
In an exciting collaboration with the Inclusive Education Team, we launched a dynamic four-day Barista English Workshop! Our talented student baristas dove into the fascinating language of coffee, mastering key English vocabulary related to equipment, the brewing process, and ingredients. This focused linguistic input is an invaluable resource for our students with neurodiversity, providing them with enhanced skills for future opportunities. A huge thank you to Mr. Neil for his expert training support!
To kick off revision for the first-term uniform test, we held our first-ever Kahoot! competition! The school hall was buzzing as all S1 students gathered to watch their class representatives battle it out. Armed with iPads, contestants raced against the clock to answer test-related questions.
The competition was fierce, with the entire cohort holding its breath as the leaderboard updated. After an exciting match, we crowned our champions from classes 1S and 1N. Congratulations to the winners!
True preparedness for the professional world extends beyond the academic curriculum, particularly in areas like table etiquette and dining manners. Recognizing this crucial gap, a powerful idea emerged: Why not proactively equip our students with the skills to navigate formal settings with confidence and avoid future embarrassment? This led to the creation of a simulated high-table dining experience, offering students essential, practical skills for life beyond graduation
With over a month of school under our belts, it was definitely time for a break and some laughter! The EEPT hosted a fantastic Movie Appreciation session in the Ground Hall, featuring Despicable Me 3. Despite a few minor technical hiccups, our students showed remarkable patience and excellent focus, eagerly completing the prepared worksheet. It was a wonderful session!
What movie should we watch next? Let us know!
On 8 October, the English Department organised a trip for 30 S2 students to K11 MUSEA. This excursion help them connect their learning from "Unit 1: Let's go shopping" to authentic use. The focus of this visit was the artwork exhibited throughout the mall.
During the guided art tour, students explored the mall and observed a variety of thought-provoking artworks. They actively engaged in conversations with the guide and shared their own interpretations of the artwork in English.
The trip provided meaningful and valuable experience for the students, encouraging both language skills and critical thinking.
2D Gloria Deng's reflection:
Today I went to K11 Musea to see all kinds of interesting works of art. There, I could not only buy souvenirs but also enjoy different artworks. The most unforgettable one was "Five-Coloured Parrots" designed by a Chinese artist. The five parrots hung spinning in the air made me feel as if I were in a magical world. I really enjoyed this activity.
2D Miles Yeung's reflection:
After visiting Hong Kong K11 MUSEA, I learned that art and commerce can be blended perfectly, which inspired me to pursue innovation in combining different elements. There are also places where I can learn about art and culture, appreciate artistic creations, participate in handcrafting classes, and experience different food cultures.
2L Hannah Liu's reflection:
My experience with today's K11 tour was very interesting, particularly regarding the artworks and the meaning behind them. Some people might only think their appearance is random, but to me, the artists put real thoughts into it. Some of them might have even been going through hard times but were still able to deliver a message of "never give up", which is something that inspired me the most throughout the whole tour.
The 5th Hard Pen Handwriting Competition was held in the school hall today. English Department collaborated with Chinese Club to conduct the activity together. Many students participated and attempted both Chinese and English writing pieces. Even those unfamiliar with cursive style skillfully imitated the sample we prepared for them. Look at how attentive the students are!
Thank Ms Tong SM for the help.
Students participated in the Time to Talk Public Speaking Competition during the AY 2425, and we are pleased to present the certificates to honor their dedicated efforts.
Eight of our students demonstrated exceptional courage at the Time to Talk Public Speaking Competition, organized by the Education Bureau's Regional NET Coordinating Team to develop students' public speaking, creative language use, and presentation confidence. Team A (3S Ye Bevis, 3L Wu Yi, 3S Xiong Jiaxin, and 3S Chau Wing Yi) and Team B (3N Fung Yu Kwan, 3N Chu Ling Yi, 3N Wu Sze Tung, and 4D Ren Ziwen) explored the thought-provoking theme of reconciling personal ambitions with parental expectations in Asian families, examining the tension between youthful aspirations and practical realities. Through their presentations, participants thoughtfully analyzed how young people navigate the complex intersection of individual goals and family-centred values, addressing the universal challenge of pursuing one's dreams while honoring cultural traditions and family hopes. Despite facing linguistic challenges in presenting complex ideas entirely in English, all eight students displayed remarkable determination and perseverance, embodying the true spirit of academic courage and the school's commitment to fostering confident, globally-minded communicators.
A shout-out to Mekka's help
