Shakespeare is coming to our school!!!
Of course not the real person (Otherwise it would be too scary). Shakespeare for All (S4A) came to our school and provided students with the opportunity to know more about Shakespeare. A display board was set up, several online workshops were being held, and the most essential event - students got the chance to view the play "Romeo & Juliet".
After the final examination, some S1 students stayed and had a 2-hour drama workshop. Guess what? Besides Romeo & Juliet, these students had a chance to act out the ending scene of Anthony and Cleopatra! Let's go to the photo gallery to check it out.
Wall Street English visited DLSNT to provide a one-hour English speaking workshop for our S4 students. Students got a chance to learnt how to present to and discuss with their schoolmates. They also applied the new knowledge to what they learnt during their English lessons. Students reported that the workshop was beneficial to them!

Mr. Elting, our NET, never stops holding fun English activity to provide another opportunity for students to use English. Students stayed after school for another half an hour before they had their lunch at home because they joined a scavenger hunt with Mr. Elting and Ms Wong KL. Students used the hints provided to find the items and in the end, got a prize for accomplishing the mission. Check the pictures out in Photo Gallery to see how much fun they had!
Getting the fatigue of using Zoom in learning? Why don't we have some fun using the Zoom for English activities? Mr. Elting, our NET, held an afternoon activity using Zoom for interactive English games, ranging from identify objects from different sounds to Pictionary games. English Club members were free to share their ideas and shout out the answers.
Not only the English Club members were benefit, Mr. Elting grabbed the chance and extended the activity to the whole school afterwards, which allowed more students to join. It was fun and students found it rewarding. Let's look forward to the next activity!
The Covid-19 doesn't stop the students in DLSSSNT from getting to know about the world. English Department is bringing our students to Ancient Egypt to get to know more about their history. Who was the first Pharaoh? What are the wonders in Egypt? Was there really a scorpion king in the past? What's inside a pyramid? How to find the volume of the pyramid? Through different activities, students understand more about Ancient Egypt.
Students are given a passport to get some information about Egypt.
Inside students can learn different information about Egypt, and use them to walkthrough the activities we prepare for them!
At the back of the passport, students need to collect three stamps so that they could get a prize!
Here are the activities they are enjoying:
Video Watching
Students watch a video and pick two of the wonders that they are the most impressed. Thanks Mr. Elting (NET) for being the narrator.
Crafting
We always remember that some students are artistic and creative! Make yourself a treasure box or pencil case!
BBC provides resourceful materials that students can enjoy.
Deciphering
Test yourself to see if you could be an archeologist. Decipher the messages written in Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyph.
Don't go away before you read the sentences aloud!
Narmer Palette
Of course you will not be able to touch the real artifacts. But you get a chance to solve the jigsaw puzzle!
There are also Kahoot quizzes, pyramid labelling, writing names in hieroglyph and scavenger hunt. Check out the photos in our Photos Gallery!
Do you like watching video clips? Do you want to learn English words and train your speaking skills? Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity) is collaborating with English Central to provide a platform for students to watch video clips and learn English words. Right now, there is the Easter Challenge. Students are required to watch five videos during Easter holiday, learn at least 6 new vocabulary and record six speaking lines. Are you ready for that?
Interested DLSSNT students, You may download the User Guide and start your own challenge.
DLSSSNT has just had it first introduction of poetry workshop with some students after a long break. It's always good to let students keep their creative ideas flowing. We are looking forward to the next opportunity!
2020 is a challenging year. There were not many occasions for students to come back to school for face-to-face training. Nonetheless, teachers and students devoted their time to make this happen. Eleven students joined the festival, and for some, this is actually their first time to have this kind of competition.
Thanks to Miss Chan WS (who was also the teacher-in-charge), Mr. Elting S (NET), and other English subject teachers Mr. Kong HW, Ms. Mok SL, Ms. Wong ML, Ms. Wong KL, and Miss Wong WL, two of the participants obtained the third places, and the rest received Merit and proficiency.
