After dedicating 27 years to working within the David Douglas School District, the current principal, Greg Carradine, is set to retire with his last day being June 30th.
In the meantime, Carradine remains actively engaged with the school, working for and with the community, demonstrating his dedication and loyalty to the David Douglas School District. Superintendent Ken Richardson will be selecting the new principal along with the help of prestigious staff members who can sign up to be part of and assist with the hiring process.

As a major part of the selection procedure, students were invited to answer survey questions in order to involve student input in to the principal selection. The survey, sent out to advisories, asked students what top five qualities students look for in a principal, what focus areas our upcoming principal should prioritize, and how important specific areas of responsibility are for the principal. The student responses are designed to help select a proper fitting principal for the upcoming year. All students are encouraged to partake in the survey.
Teachers and staff are also a crucial part of the significant election as they may volunteer to be part of the actual interview process. The interviews begin Feb. 20, and the second round of interviews begin on the 26. The final interview lies on March 4 with the principal being named shortly after on the 14th. The principal’s duties begin on July 1.
“My administrative team, our school leadership team, and David Douglas staff have an excellent tradition of valuing education for students, and this rich tradition will continue.” said Carradine.
