Five Nights of Freddy lives up to the success of the video game

The new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has come to life by Emma Tami, and everyone’s been hyping it up since it premiered on October 27, 2023, distributed by Universal Pictures and directed by Emma Tami, who’s also known for directing other movies.

 The movie follows Josh Huterchson, an American actor known for starring as Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games. In FNAF, he plays as Mike Schmidt, a troubled security guard who starts a job at an abandoned pizzeria and an entertainment center, after a commotion caused him to lose his past job. Also, he discovers that the animatronics are possessed by homicidal children who have gone missing in the past, including his brother. he soon realizes that the pizzeria isn’t what it makes itself seem to be. While the directors cast some pretty great actors, some lines were overacted, causing a feeling of secondhand embarrassment. It was as if Aunt Jance was a very irrelevant character who tried to take Mike’s sister away from him, as well as to get him fired. Some of her lines didn’t fit certain scenes, making it seem very unnatural. The lighting situation in FNAF was very well played, and it emphasized the “horror” genre. The lights flashing, and playing around with having the animatronic spawn at one time, cause a light flash, and disappear adds suspense for the viewer, and pulls you in on what is going to happen next. Everything was also very dark as if their main focus for the watchers is to see that this is meant to be scary/  The process of adding music to this movie is phenomenal. The majority of the songs having only sound effects give chills, but the Newton Brothers understood the assignment. Although Mike had a difficult relationship with his sister Abby Schmidt, portrayed by Piper Rubio, the writers took time to show how the situation at Freddy’s increased their relationship. Mike seems annoyed by his sister for the right reasons, we see that he cares about her. He’s a bit robotic at times but in a good way. 

Although Five Nights at Freddy’s is a video game brought to life, perfectly for video game lovers, it’s one of the best and there are many to continue about how outstanding it is, especially with the amount of delays, taking almost  6 years to complete.

According to the global box office, it’s earned $251.9 million in almost a month in a half, in my opinion, it deserves more.
