Project Overview
This Project shall include the complete renovation of the existing historic building to create new early childhood learning spaces, including space to prepare and distribute food. The design will include nine (9) classrooms, discovery commons spaces, instructional support spaces, and administrative offices. Project shall also include outdoor play areas, including equipment, for children in the early childhood program and a covered walkway connecting the Old Miner facility to Miner Elementary School.
The anticipated Early Childhood Education Center program needs a total of about 25,000 square feet. DCPS intends to renovate space within the existing unoccupied facility next to Miner ES to serve Pre-K3 and Pre-K4. Lastly, 5 of 1st floor classrooms in the existing Miner building will be renovated to fit a 4 classroom Child Development Center for children ages 0 - 3.
