Valedictory Ceremony of "Synergia" Life Science Society-2021
The Valedictory function of the newly formulated Life Sciences society, “SYNERGIA” was held at Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi on August 5th,2021 under the aegis of IQAC. It was organised in a blended mode including a comprehensive talk by the eminent Chief Guest-Dr. S K Varshney, the launch of the Annual Magazine and felicitation of the society members with certificates and momentos in offline mode. The Hon'ble Chief Guest for the Day, Dr. S.K. Varshney, Advisor and Head , International Cooperation, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India delivered an intellectual and evoking talk on “Emerging Trends in Science and Technology”. The astonishing event commenced with a warm welcome of the gathering by Society's Vice President , Vikram Sehrawat. followed by the lamp lighting ceremony, Ganesha and Saraswati Vandana to invoke the almighty by our Hon'ble Principal, Prof. Rajiv Aggarwal, Convenors and Co - Convenors of SYNERGIA. Respected principal sir delivered incentive words, bordered by our Founder Convenor, Dr. Manisha Sengar , our Convenors, Dr. Roshni Rajamohan and Dr. Deepti Gupta. Succeeding with event, Dr. Varshney basically threw light on “The Life And Mutual Interdependence Of Biotic And Abiotic Components”. Sir extensively discussed the basic challenges faced by the planet and ways to resolve these issues. The challenges included Food, Water, Healthcare Systems, Energy Resources and Environment. He elucidated the idea providing such necessities uniformly throughout the world. Glimpses of several emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technologies, Nano Technologies, Space Research, Manufacturing Industries of clean fuel etc were given. Introduction of the emerging technologies were given and their extended ideas to resolve the challenges with ease was also highlighted. Sir also called for attention on how basic planning following ethics is crucial to achieve any goal. Later Sir extended his talk on each challenge intiating with FOOD and how factors like agriculture, post-harvest maintenance and packaging pose a part of this challenge. Dr. Varshney followed up with the Solutions, Precision Agriculture, Crop-Water Budget, Organic Farming, Cold Chain Technology, Irradiation, etc, Sir also put forward his his thoughts about the importance of WATER and focused on the point that both availability and portability of water are major challenges. Techniques like desalination, distillation, rainwater harvesting, etc were discussed. Succeeding with next challenge, ENERGY, limitation of thermal energy resources and how India is an energy deficient country was conversed. The solution proposed was Solar energy, Wind energy, Biofuels and Hydrogen Energy. He spelled out on how the storage of energy and directing energy to different places is a challenge and researchers are trying to come up with innovations for the same and awared attendees about Intelligent and Green Transport. Sir proceeded up with HEALTHCARE, confabulating its challenges which included: affordability, better drug development, therapeutics, etc. Dr. Varshney also extended words on how Artificial Intelligence can play a crucial role in providing better health care facilities. He further sought the focus of audience to the two important aspects- Bio-ethics and Bio-Safety. The Final Challenge discussed was ENVIRONMENT, how pollution has degraded it and how Artificial Intelligence can be used as a powerful asset to tackle above mentioned issue. Upcoming with another challenge ,QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY, a highly precise technology, which was followed by CLEAN FUEL were considered. A brief introduction of 3D printing , NANOTECHNOLOGY and the benefits of space research were given. Honourable speaker drew the inference with two messages for the audience, the first was related to SCIENCE COMMUNICATION, about how people are unaware of scientific advances around them and second he asked everyone to be innovative and creative. Dr. Varshney kept the audience glued throughout his speech and mentioned how worthy it was for a Science enthusiast to be interdisciplinary. Sir motivated them to ponder over the challenges and come up with solutions. All the queries of the audience were diligently entertained. After the insightful talk, the annual report was presented by President, Akash Kumar Sahni and Vice President, Vikram Sehrawat and the ‘TRINITY’ the first ever magazine of synergia was launched by our Respected Principal Sir, Convenors and Co-Convenors. Workoholic and assiduous office bearers adjoined by council members were felicitated with momentos and certificates on behalf of the society. Dr Kiran Bala, Co-convenor, Synergia thanked students with words of appreciation. Motivational and persuasive words of IQAC coordinator, Dr. Aditya Saxena were well taken by the society. The event was a great success and well attended by more than 254 participants including teachers, students and research scholars from various colleges and institutions. The event came to a close with vote of thanks delivered by Ansh Sharma, Council Member, Synergia.
