If you were to ask me at the beginning of this class how I felt about it, I would've told you that it was simply daunting. In my eyes, history had never been my strong suit. However, after this year, I figured out that I had been looking at it wrong this entire time. History isn't about the exact timeline or list of facts and names. History is stories made up of characters that were all born as clueless human beings, just like me. By looking at history through a more "human oriented" lens, my understanding grew as I never imagined it could.
Midterm
Architecture: The Side Hustle
For the midterm assignment, I knew that I wanted to use the freedom it allowed me to the best of my ability. To further research my interest in architecture, I decided to look further into a man that I came to know as someone who was more than a political figure. Thomas Jefferson's pursuits in architecture are widely known and are still present today, yet they remains in the margins of his section in history books. This project allowed me to combine architecture and video, two things I have come to love, and apply it to a seemingly known time period. There is always something new to learn.
