This class was an introduction to jobs involved in making a cohesive film, shot types, the production process, basic editing and production terms, and basic shot composition. We learned how to create a treatment, write a script, create a storyboard, put together the two needed schedules and basic editing capabilities. This class taught me the fundamentals of filmmaking and provided me a solid base to grow off of.
Below are my final films.
*In chronological order
We were tasked with creating a film with the goal of learning how to frame shots, execute shots, and edit shots. I made three 90 second songs in GarageBand using loops for the three separate locations we were instructed to have in the video. Each song was to be cut at different points for each time the shot with it's corresponding location came up. The same shot could not be used consecutively and we had to put a graphic, colors and font differing in each, before each new shot in the film.
We were tasked with creating a series of images that go together in some way. The requirements were to have a title graphic, ten shots, experiment with camera framing, have a different backdrop for each shot, import or create music, and record a voiceover. We used Celtx, a screenwriting software, to plan our shots, backdrops, and voiceover.
