Praying for your families to feel the peace, presence and assurance that God is with you.
Earlier this year Angie shared with me parts of a devotional series about the beauty God has created and how it’s part of His revelation of himself to us. Later we reflected on the beauty of God’s creation we have been able to experience in new ways over the last year and a half, mostly related to our work-related travels. From our niece’s wedding in Peru, to the Pacific coast, the redwood trees, the beauty of Alaska, the Florida Everglades, the mountains of Colorado, the sunflowers and sunsets as we ride our bikes near our home and even in our own flowerbeds (still a work in progress). We have been in awe many times at the spectacular nature of God’s creation and it often leads us to worship.
I want to share a few things about God’s created beauty from several devotions from the book, Shine Your Light by Chris Tiegreen, that I think are the most impactful.
First, “There is deep fellowship between the Creator and the person who looks at his artistry with wonder and awe.” I know I feel that fellowship, and I imagine you do as well. Unfortunately, many people walk around completely unaware of the masterpieces that God has made all around them.
The second thing is God’s creativity is not only for our enjoyment, it is also “…to reveal who he is…He wants to be known.” His creation is a glimpse of who He is and we should not be casual about that.
Lastly, in times when hearts are hardened to truth, God’s created beauty can show the world the nature of God. “It can draw people toward the glory of God before they even realize who he is. Seek beauty wherever you can, preserve it whenever you can, and create it however you can.”
