Praying for your families to feel the peace, presence and assurance that God is with you.
I don’t know why, but I am still so surprised by what God does in ballrooms across the country during the Weekend to Remember. We know that couples show up in different stages of their marriage — newly married to seasoned marriages, in a good place in their relationships, to barely hanging on, and some communicating deeply and others not even speaking to one another. That is why we cover these events in prayer, asking God to meet each couple right where they need it. He does exactly that, and the results bring His praise to our lips!
Below, I will share two testimonies of couples that appear to be in a good place and then finish with a story of a couple that came to the Austin event in crisis.
“This is our first time with Weekend To Remember. We’ve attended two marriage retreats per year for over 25 years, and can sincerely say that this one has been our favorite and that we’ve gotten the most out of this one. Seriously! Even after 30 years of marriage, there is “stuff” to be learned, things to realize and so much to be curious about! My husband and I loved reading our love letters to each other during our date last night, and were surprised to hear a few things we hadn’t shared before. My husband doesn’t cry very often, so to see tears streaming down his face as he read his love letter to me was…well, it’s making me cry even as I write this! Thank you for a phenomenal weekend!” Wife, married 30 years
“This has certainly been a “Weekend to Remember!” The principles presented are life-changing and have brought our attention back to what makes a healthy marriage. I would highly recommend this weekend to anyone who wants a growing marriage!” Pastor, married 20 years
The couple in crisis had filed for divorce and there were two days left in their Texas mandated 60 day waiting period to finalize their divorce. They chose to attend the Weekend to Remember as a last ditch effort to save their marriage. They did not attend the conference except for the Sunday morning men's and women's sessions. God moved in the wife’s heart during the women's session and she prayed with a team member. They decided they did not want to end their marriage. They connected with some local Weekend to Remember team members and are going to join a small group marriage Bible study in their community.
How cool is it that this last couple didn’t even attend all that was planned for the weekend and God met them in that little space they gave, right where they needed it the most! Pray that those in the marriage small group will continue to nurture the seeds that have been planted in that couples life. Join us as we praise God for what He did and continues to do the the lives of the couples that came to Austin and other events this past year.
We will be attending Cru25, our staff conference, in Milwaukee in July. Please pray for good health, safe travel, a time of reconnection with staff, and physical and spiritual refreshment.
Rachel has made an offer on a house. Please pray for that process. She’s still fostering Ben, and she would appreciate prayer as she continues to care for him.
Pray for Angie. She has had several health issues coming out of our busy spring season.
