Praying for your families to feel the peace, presence and assurance that God is with you.
Angie and I regularly ask God to put people in our paths that we can pray for and encourage. In Charleston, while working our last fall Weekend to Remember, we had such a couple put before us.
The first interaction with this couple was Friday night after the session was over and most everyone was done in the Shop. It wasn’t even evident at first that they were together, they even checked out and paid separately. Then we saw them again on Saturday at lunch - he was sitting alone (looking upset) in the hallway and she was outside looking at her phone. God kept showing this couple to us throughout the weekend and we continued to pray.
Fast forward to Sunday morning when our speakers take time to answer questions submitted by guests in a panel discussion. That panel time is followed by an open mic time for guests to share one takeaway from the weekend. Below is Molly’s (one of our speakers) part of this story.
Her husband, Craig, was leading the panel discussion and she had let him know that there was a question she really wanted to answer. Unfortunately, time ran out before she could answer the question about how to grow in your faith/studying the Bible. So, during the last session when addressing taking the right next steps, she worked the question in. She was able to give some specific ideas of how they, their spouse, and their kids could grow closer to God. A few minutes later during the open mic time in front of over 500 people, a man stood up and shared through tears, “My ‘ah-ha’ moment happened about four minutes ago when you read and answered my question. I have felt distant from God and not sure how to get back in relationship, but this just proved to me that He sees me and is listening.”
After the session Molly connected with them. The man was still crying as his wife told her that throughout the whole panel discussion, as every question was read, he kept whispering to her, discouraged, “They’re not going to read my question.” She kept hoping for him and in faith saying, “They will, they will.” She said that when Craig said they were out of time for more questions, her heart broke for her husband who looked so sad and discouraged. About fifteen minutes passed before Molly read and responded to his question, at which time they both looked at each other in total shock and joy. Through his tears, he told Molly how meaningful this was to him and how it would impact them for years to come. Molly signed in a book that she gave them “God sees you and hears you.” She then prayed for them. The crazy thing is that the book she gave them is a book of “God Stories” and Scripture to remind people that God sees.
We don’t always get a peak at what God is up to when he lays someone on our hearts, but Angie stepped into the ballroom at just the right time to realize who the man was who shared his ‘ah-ha’ moment. We then in turn got to share with Molly that this couple had been on our hearts all weekend. Keep praying for Jeramie and Kylie.
