Praying for your families to feel the peace, presence and assurance that God is with you.
Our Mission at FamilyLife is To effectively develop godly marriages and families who change the world one home at a time. While this has been done in a variety of ways, we want to share a way that is not often mentioned. Partnerships. All that we do at FamilyLife would not be possible without partnerships. We have partnerships with hotel and warehouse employees, volunteer teams at each event, donors, and other local ministries. While time does not allow for us to explain all of them, we would like to explain just one that we personally witnessed.
At our most recent event, we partnered with a Cru Military staff member. He came and set up an area outside of the ballroom to have a chance to connect with past and present military members and their spouses and invite them to some shared time. As the planner, Billy was able to secure a special room for the weekend that served as a hangout for military staff to be able to engage with one another and just have a safe space to be.
There was an extra planned time for them to gather Sunday morning where they were going to have coffee. Someone anonymously decided to pay for the hotel to prepare and provide breakfast for that gathering. Many don’t know that the costs for such gatherings are usually cost prohibitive and not part of our standard budget for the event. Because of the Cru Military staff member, a generous donor, and a great hotel team that morning event turned into an extra special time for all involved.
Here’s the email Billy and another staff member received after the event….
“I want to thank you both for the extraordinary support you gave me and our Cru Military team at the Reston WTR. Everything went so well ... it was remarkable. From the dessert reception on Friday night to the "military lounge" to the buffet breakfast / breakout on Sunday morning... It was all amazing. We were NOT planning a breakfast at all due to the high cost; and then an anonymous donor texted me on Saturday morning and offered to cover the $3.7k cost. And we were able to get it all done on short notice... and even notify the military couples Saturday afternoon (via Slack's text messaging app) of the late-breaking development for Sunday's breakfast. We had two new Cru Military volunteer couples who helped and added so much to our meet/greet time over the weekend.
I would say this was one of our best, if not our best, WTR at Reston to date for Cru Military... and we've done a bunch of them. I was highly encouraged. And I love the new WTR format and presentation. The whole weekend was great in every respect. Thanks again for your faithful support and partnership.
Blessings,"

The pictures are of Angie, myself and Nicholas (one of the top notch hotel staff) at the Hyatt Regency Reston. We were able to have great conversations with Nicholas about marriage and the Gospel throughout the weekend.
