Praying for your families to feel the peace, presence and assurance that God is with you.
I thought between Mother’s Day and Father’s day would be a great time to let you know about a new parenting video project we are working on at FamilyLife. Our prayer for this project is that God might use this to give parents a vision for proactive, intentional, gospel centered parenting of their children.
Over the six sessions of the Art of Parenting, we will follow Charlie and Alice from 1983 when Alice is 20, unmarried, and finds out she's pregnant to the year 2033 when the couple is celebrating their 50 anniversary. Each of our six video sessions will begin with a chapter from their story, following them through the child raising years as they try to figure out how to raise kids without messing things up. We're convinced that by having a story line as part of the video series, we'll be able to connect with the head and heart of our audience.
It's an ambitious project, and we are shooting it on a limited budget. We have a great crew, some very solid actors (including Alan Powell who played the lead character Jed King in the movie The Song and Alex Kendrick as one of Charlie and Alice's adult children).
In addition to the story part of this project, we have interviews with our Art of Parenting faculty. These include: Dr. Meg Meeker, Kevin DeYoung, Dave and Ann Willson, Allister Begg, Dennis and Barbara Rainey and more. Last month, we shot our final interview with our video faculty. The contribution of every person we've interviewed will make this project stronger and more appealing. When finished, folks will be seeing the best of the best input from the people we've talked to.
We still have a long way to go before our Art of Parenting project is ready to launch. When Bob Lepine is asked how the project is going he says, “we've just entered the second trimester, with a due date of next spring.”
“Please keep praying that the extra effort and work going into this series will result in extra impact in the lives of parents for years to come…” Bob Lepine
