We started this summer after Brandon and Morgan’s wedding by taking time to rest and reconnect while on sabbatical. We also added a new Golden Retriever puppy, Bear (not the most restful decision, but fun). 

The highlight of our sabbatical time was a trip to the beach with one of my college roommates and his wife, who were both friends during our college days. He is now a pastor nearby and was on Sabbatical as well. We had a great time laughing, snorkeling, relaxing and catching up.

Upon returning from that trip, we decided to make a bed for our guest room. After the dust settled, I am glad to say the bed turned out great and it is ready for you to stop by and spend the night.

I had rotator cuff surgery on July 5th and have been in recovery and physical therapy since then. So far the recovery is going well, and I should be ready to go for my fall events in Cleveland, Dallas (Las Colinas) and Charleston.

Two and a half weeks after surgery we visited family on the way to our staff conference and pre-season warehouse work in Orlando. Our week in Orlando was a great time of reconnecting with staff we hadn’t seen for several years. We were challenged to be IN STEP (Col 3: 15-17) as we serve others and as we grow in our relationship with Christ.

Our team spent several days at the warehouse preparing our 48 shipping containers for the fall Weekend to Remember season. We stayed busy inventorying, checking equipment, training, and updating processes and documents in preparation for our 30 fall events.

We are winding down this smoking-hot summer with some family activities. We got away (all the way across town in Las Colinas) for our 31st anniversary and then made a quick trip to Arkansas to celebrate birthdays with our kids.

Thank you for being a continual source of encouragement through your prayers and financial support. Pray that as we all look toward what God has for us this fall we will all stay ‘in step’ with His plans and purposes for our lives.

          • In June, Brandon started his job as a financial advisor. Pray as he studies and takes exams to fulfill the requirements for that role.

          • Rachel started a new job with a private practice. We give thanks to God for this new job!
