WorkKeys (ACT)

Students in grades 9-12 may take the ACT WorkKeys Assessments through Ohio's WorkKeys & Industry Credentials Pathway.

Purpose of Assessment

The ACT WorkKeys assessments measure a student's foundational skills required for success in the workplace, and help measure the workplace skills that can affect job performance. The Applied Math assessment measures critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and problem solving techniques for situations that occur in today's workplace. The Graphic Literacy assessment measures the skill needed to locate, synthesize, and use information from workplace graphics. The Workplace Documents assessment measures the skills people use when they read and use written text such as memos, letters, directions, signs, notices, bulletins, policies, and regulations on the job.

ACT WorkKeys Assessments have both Level and Scale Scores. Level scores are often used in hiring and advancement decisions. They are based on ACT WorkKeys job profiles which are a snapshot of skills needed for a particular job. ACT WorkKeys can be a part of student's graduation plan if they are pursuing an alterative competency pathway. See a student counselor for more information.
