JAN
Jan is an 85 year old woman currently serving as the Director of the Chesterfield Council on Aging. She has had numerous experiences serving people and communities in a variety of ways. She deeply understands the importance of compassion, love, humility, respect, and much more when dealing with folks in need.
“Food has to be part of a community. Knowing people are okay has to be part of a community. Having access to food, anyway you can do it, is important.”

"There is nothing in a community that doesn't have some attention being paid to who's hungry. The beauty of our country (hill) towns is there is a network where people know each other and they know who’s at risk…
People value when we're not making judgments of any kind. We've all walked different paths…As I got older, professionally you get a much deeper understanding of how hard people work to be sure they survive, to look after their families, to put food on the table."
