Lourdes is a mother of two living in public housing in Northampton. She is a fiercely protective mom while working hard to make sure her kids have the tools to be great citizens. She is a gardener and loves to cook recipes that she learned from her grandmother in Puerto Rico. She spent time during the pandemic teaching her daughter cooking skills and experimented with new produce and recipes.
“When we have children…it's like something is born in us. It's that supernatural power of protection, and to be stronger for them, our children follow in our footsteps...we have to set an example.”
"I want them to prepare themselves professionally, to be good people, to help others, to help people who have less who can't buy food today ..Sometimes if I cook and I have some leftovers and I know we are not going to eat them, instead of wasting them, I take it and share it [with someone in need]”
