Self-compassion involves treating ourselves with the kindness, love and support that we would provide a friend or family member going through the same kinds of things with which we are struggling. In reality, though, we are often harder on ourselves than pretty much anybody else ever would be. So, for good mental health, developing and practicing self-compassion is key.

How self-compassionate are you? If you're like me, the answer to this question varies by the hour, day, week, etc. However, there is a reliable self-compassion scale that helps / you are on this really important dimension of self-care. You can check out that self-compassion scale at Dr. Kristin Neff's webpage at https://self-compassion.org/test-how-self-compassionate-you-are/.
