practicing self-compassion

If you have taken a positive psychology course you have probably been exposed to Dr. Laurie Santos and her Happiness Lab podcast (which you can check out by clicking on this hyperlinked text). I regularly listen to Dr. Santos' podcast and have incorporated some of her episodes into various classes. I recently discovered to episodes she produced that revolve around developing and practicing compassion toward ourselves. In other words, practicing self-compassion. The two podcasts I have thus far listened to are included below. The first focuses on dealing with our "inner drill sergeant" (we are often, if not always, much harder on ourselves than we would be on others going through the similar things) and how to develop an awareness of and be mindful in the current moment using the RAIN mindfulness technique (RAIN stands for Recognize, Allow, Investigate and Nature).
