reframing

I have been thinking a lot the last few weeks about the importance of paying attention to my thoughts and the way in which I am framing, thinking about and defining my actions and interactions with people. Sometimes I am overly critical of myself or interpret another person's action in a way that is irrational or not necessarily based in reality. Reframing is part of the cognitive behavioral therapy toolkit that challenges us to be mindful of our thoughts, thought patterns and cognitive distortions that often lead us to feel a certain way when we don't really have to.
