Course Description:
Academic Decathlon is for students of all academic abilities who are interested in receiving college credit and who are looking to build a strong college application building. Any grade point average is accepted. Academic Decathlon counts as an 8th period pass or fail class. We meet after school twice per week for the first semester. Our competition takes place in January. Students compete in 10 events centered around a chosen topic for the year. For example, the 20-21 theme is the Cold War. Next year will be a new theme. Contact Ms. Camenson at MikaylaCamenson@cusd.com for more information.
Students Who Succeed in This Course:
Students in academic decathlon have any grade point average from a 1.0 to a 4.0+. What is important is that they enjoy reading and are inquisitive. Some of my best team members are students who have low grades, but are naturally smart and just don't like doing school work. Other students who do well are students who score well on tests.
