Course Description:
AP Art History is an elective course that covers the history of art from all continents from prehistory to the present. This class fulfills the Visual/Performing Arts requirement.
This class is a history class first and foremost. We study art, but we do not create art. Instead, students will learn how history has influenced art making. We discuss how politics, economics, religion, society, and culture influence the decisions artists make. We also explore what art says about a culture and/or time period. Students will gain a deeper understanding of history and art that will change the way they look at the world around them.
Students Who Succeed in This Course:
Students that enjoy history and love art. Students that can commit to the rigors of an AP class.
