Course Description:
In AP CSP you will learn the principles that underlie the science of computing and develop the thinking skills that computer scientists use. You’ll work on your own and as part of a team to creatively address real-world issues using the tools and processes of computation. You will learn to make connections between concepts in computing, designing a program to solve a problem or complete a task, apply abstractions in computation and modeling, analyze computational work, communicating ideas about technology and computation, and work collaboratively to solve problems. This course is equivalent to a first-semester introductory college course in computing.
Students Who Succeed in This Course:
Those with limited-to-no coding experience can take this course without fear. Sometimes students elect to take AP CSP early in their high school career since the level of math required is nothing beyond basic algebra. This is a course that every serious student should consider taking, whether or not they plan on pursuing CS beyond high school or not. In short, this class is an excellent choice for anyone with even a casual interest in computing.
