Space Day: 2 June
On Tuesday 2 June, the school turned into a bustling space station as our Grade 2 explorers arrived ready to blast off into space and explore the universe. It was an out-of-this-world Space Day that kicked off with some serious rocket science, as our young astronauts had great fun engineering and building their very own rockets out of 2 litre bottles. The excitement reached new heights on the school launchpad, where, with some fantastic helping hands from the Grade 5s and Mr. Mortimer, the Grade 2s successfully launched their rockets high into the sky.
Back inside, the mission continued with the children working diligently on their space projects to showcase their growing knowledge of the planets and the Milky Way. The crew then gathered in the theatre for an immersive experience, watching a thrilling rocket launch on the big screen. Through the presentation, they managed to experience what it actually looks like in the depths of space and got a fascinating glimpse into how astronauts live and work in zero gravity. The day disappeared way too quickly—as time always flies when you're travelling at warp speed—but it was an unforgettable adventure where lots of learning and fun was had by all.
