A Buzzing Term 2
Term 2 has been filled with joyful learning, discovery and adventure for our Bee Group. As the children have settled confidently into Pre-School life, it has been wonderful to see their personalities blossom and their friendships flourish.
What a busy and exciting second term it has been! The Fireflies and Shongololos have continued to grow in confidence and independence, embracing new experiences with enthusiasm and curiosity.
What an exciting adventure our Grade 0 Frogs and Chameleons enjoyed on their recent outing to Excelsior Farm!
The morning began with great excitement as we boarded the buses and set off on our journey. As we travelled along the beautiful Lower Lotheni Road, we took in the rolling hills and stunning countryside views, eagerly anticipating the day ahead.
Celebrating the Generations That Shape Us
There was a wonderful sense of joy and togetherness at Clifton Pre-School as we welcomed our cherished grandparents, gogos, oumas, oupas, omkhulu, and grand special friends for our annual Grandparents' and Grand Special Friends Day.
Honouring the Generations That Inspire Us
Our Junior Primary Grandparents' and Grand Special Friends Day was a heartwarming celebration of family, connection, and the special role grandparents play in our children's lives.
Clifton Pre-School Duiker Dawdle – A Celebration of Community and Culture at Dusk
The Clifton Pre-School Duiker Dawdle, held on 15 June, was a joyful celebration of community spirit, connection, and outdoor adventure. True to Clifton’s commitment to nurturing a strong sense of belonging and shared experience, the event brought together Pre-School families for an unforgettable dusk dawdle filled with laughter, discovery, and forest magic.
On Thursday the 4 June, the trip count down was finally over and it was time for our second overnight camp of the year! We headed for the hills of Eston, where the incredible El Olam team of facilitators were waiting for us. The children were split into groups and the games began. A brief refuel with snack was had before we headed to the pond, nets and buckets in hand. The children loved catching crabs, frogs, tadpoles and shrimps in their pairs.
On Tuesday 2 June, the school turned into a bustling space station as our Grade 2 explorers arrived ready to blast off into space and explore the universe. It was an out-of-this-world Space Day that kicked off with some serious rocket science, as our young astronauts had great fun engineering and building their very own rockets out of 2 litre bottles. The excitement reached new heights on the school launchpad, where, with some fantastic helping hands from the Grade 5s and Mr. Mortimer, the Grade 2s successfully launched their rockets high into the sky.
On Friday 19 June, the JP playground became a full on traffic jam, as the Grade1 children took to the “skies” and blocked up the usually quiet paths, with various forms of transportation! This event is always a highly anticipated day on the calendar and this year was no different. The pre school children looked on, eager for their time to come. Whilst the older children looked back on their fond memories of their time behind the wheel!
Grade 0 Outing to the Midlands’ Premier Tourist Attraction — Piggly Wiggly
With hearts full of excitement and eyes sparkling with anticipation, the Chameleon and Frog classes climbed aboard the Clifton Champ buses for their much-anticipated adventure to the Midlands Meander treasure, Piggly Wiggly. Dressed proudly in their Clifton hats and clothing, the children represented our school beautifully as they set off on a day filled with creativity, laughter, and magical memories.
On 13 May, a wave of excitement and just a few butterflies swept through our Grade 2 class as they set off for Shongweni Dam. This wasn't just any field trip; it was their first-ever two-night excursion to the Spirit of Adventure.
Although winter seems to have arrived a little earlier this year, the chilly air certainly did not dampen the excitement and enthusiasm of our Grade 0 Frogs and Chameleons as they arrived for their very special Mums’ Evening. Warm smiles, eager faces, and a sense of wonder filled the Pre-School as children arrived hand-in-hand with their moms, ready for an evening filled with creativity, laughter, and precious memories.
On Wednesday, 6 May, the Grade 3s left for an adventurous school trip to Zingela. After arriving at our drop-off point, we set off on a 9 km hike down into the Zingela Valley and towards the Tugela River. Some children had to dig deep and keep walking despite muddy shoes, hungry tummies, and tired legs. Three hours later, we arrived at James Camp and enjoyed a delicious burger for lunch. Making the fire and potjie was the group task for the evening, and the meal was scrumptious.
Setting Sail into History: Grade 3 Titanic Day
On Friday, 1 May, the long-awaited Titanic Day finally arrived, serving as the grand finale to the Grade 3s' recent theme. The morning kicked off with a thoughtful assembly by Mrs Venter’s class, which cleverly linked the ship’s history with the concept of selective attention—a wonderful reflection of the mindfulness we strive for at Clifton.
