Consequences of pollution
Introduction
Our mentor: Miss Isabelle
Our names are: Vaanya ,Eleena ,Alyssa ,Aayur and Saphia.
We are the Marine Pollution Group
Laws of the ocean
Since 1989 it has been illegal to dump plastic into the ocean .But nowadays it still happens because of strong wind or accidents and even storms that washes the trash from land into the sea .To add most plastic waste that was dumped before 1989 is still remaining in the ocean.
The most known impact in the ocean is the ingestion, suffocation and entanglement of hundreds of marine species. In addition, a lot of these substances, like plastic and others, are known to be carcinogenic and to interfere with the body’s endocrine system, causing developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune disorders in both humans and wildlife. Water is uniquely vulnerable to pollution. Known as “universal solvent,” the water can dissolve a lot more substances than any other liquid in the entire earth
The pollution is getting worse and worse and it's destroying our oceans. The monumental impact of pollution is far-reaching. We are taking a closer look at the recent causes of ocean pollution, it is a step we can take to fight it. Our oceans are being polluted. And being destroyed by us. Unfortunately a lot of trash and other types of pollution gets in the ocean every year and it is destroying the biggest part of the planet which is the ocean.
Tons of plastic goes into our oceans every year.
When the wind carries the pollution into the ocean it is a big problem. Items like plastic bags and Styrofoam containers boxes do not decompose so the whole marine environment is affected by these things and other materials. A lot of animals die because they swallow plastic and other things that prevent them from breathing and when we fish then we have to clean them before eating.
There is so much pollution in the ocean and it is really serious.
The most visible ocean pollution and that hurt the marine life the most is plastic the sea creatures are suffocating and ,hundreds of marine animals are entangling in the trash that we dumping in the water
Pollution entering our oceans from both man-made and natural activities is affecting marine ecosystems throughout the world. And the danger isn’t just to marine animals: most of the pollutants that enter the ocean come from the land, according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. Animals often eat these pollutants which means humans will as well.
Scientists have estimated that up to 100,000,000 metric tons of plastic trash are in the world’s oceans.
Plastic
The hungry sea turtles are confusing their favourite food, jellyfish, to plastic because the plastic looks similar to jellyfish when it is floating, because of that turtles are swallowing bites and pieces of plastic that is blocking the way to real food and that is why many turtles are starving to death .
Black oil
Crabs are getting covered with black tarry oil and hundreds and thousand of other sea animals are suffering the same .Seabirds have unknowingly landed their wings on the thick sticky liquid that sunk them to the bottom of the ocean that leaded them to suffocate them to death while their lifeless bodies are being crashed into the rocks.

Our Art Piece
We got inspired by the whales that are getting affected by pollution. The whales also represent all the other animals in the ocean .The plastic floating represents the torture that the animals are enduring every day from pollution. It can be plastic , oil ,chemicals and lots more.

Action
Our action was making brochures. The brochure was about how we can stop ocean pollution and how it affects us and the marine animals. We have already given all our brochures and now we hope that they understand why our oceans are so important.

Hello,
It was a pleasure to be part of your exhibition journey.
We had the opportunity to work together as a team, accepting others' ideas, respecting each other's point of view, finishing what we started and don’t giving up in difficult times.
The team showed commitment and cooperation skills throughout the process. They showed enthusiasm while inquiring about ocean pollution. And most of all the team showed creativity as they came up with solutions while facing challenges.
I wish you all the best,
Miss Isabelle
Week 1
This week was a very exciting week. We met our group members and our mentor, Miss Isabelle. We were excited and curious to keep on working on the exhibition. We started by writing a letter to the teachers to share our learning interest . Then, we started working out our central idea .
Week2
This week we finalised our central idea ,our Lines of inquiry and the key concept questions. It was quite tricky because… All this research work raised many questions. Our mentor checked our ideas. After some discussions and our ideas were done and collaboration work, we were able to finalise our work.
Week 3
This week we created a poster which represents our research for our first line of inquiry. We also started our informative text for our second line of inquiry. In addition, we decided as a group that we were going to do a survey to show… We created the questions and decided the way we wanted to convey the survey. We also choose the year group that we would like to interview.
Week4
This week we finalised our survey. We conducted the survey with the students from Year 4, 5 and 6. Then, we did the report writing. We also completed our informative text for our second line of inquiry. Furthermore, we started brainstorming what we can do for our third line of inquiry.
Week 5
We started a plan to create a video for our introduction. But after a discussion, we decided not to do it . Instead of the video, we wrote an introduction paragraph. Meanwhile, at the same time, we started the music component. We wrote a lyric and chose a melody.
Week 6
During week six, we inquired into the third line of inquiry. We also put all our completed work in a folder on a shared drive to show organisation skills as we want all the documents in one place to make it easier to create our website .
Week 7
We started an Action plan and finished. We decided that it would be a good idea to do a booklet if we distributed it to people in the school .This week we also finished our website .it was a very stressful week. We all worked and paid for it .
