Interview with Arnaud Berthelot, General Manager of La Vallee de Ferney Conservation Trust
This article and image shows the route of the Ferney Road would have followed if had been built.
So here is how we decided on the action:
We did a lot of research and interviews with organisations protecting nature to learn about resolving conflict.
And we noted down all the information that we got.
We wanted to spread the word on how Organisations protect nature and resolve conflict.
There are many reasons for conflicts over nature, but we can tell you that not all conflicts are bad. There are good and bad conflicts. Bad conflicts are when there is sometimes war and fighting over nature for many different reasons so it’s chaos.
But conflicts can be good when the people protecting wildlife get the conflict resolved so that nature is still protected.
Here is an example:
Builders and developers want to cut down trees to build and make money but as you see some people don’t agree with them and want to protect the nature that will be destroyed so this creates a conflict. The people are not being selfish in making a conflict in this one, they are caring for nature and want to keep it healthy so if they can stop the builders they can protect plants and animals in nature. This is an example of a good conflict.
So we are here to share the message saying to keep our planet healthy and resolve conflicts to protect nature.
We worked on how we were going to share and present our ideas to the Year 4s because they were learning about ecosystems. We decided to do a presentation. When we figured out how to do the presentation, we emailed the Year 4 teachers to ask if we could present our work to the Year 4 children. The Team leader for Year 4 said ‘yes’ so we could do our presentation. Here are some photos and a video of the presentation.
Save nature for a better world
I saw you cutting down a lovely tree
You looked so happy destroying nature
But then you saw me telling you to stop
You ran away like I was never there
I don’t why you cut down trees,
I don’t why you destroy nature
Don’t take me back cause I hate you now
Save your sorry for another
Save nature for a better world
Save nature for a better world
Met you once in a forest
Kept my distance cause i know that you
Don’t like when I try to stop you
I couldn't help you cut down trees
Save nature for a better world
make it be a better place
Don’t take me back cause I hate you now
Save your sorry for another
I realised that your a monster now
You deserve no oxygen
Save nature for better world
Save nature for a better nature for a better place
Saaave nature for a better world
Ohhh
I said
Save nature for a better place
(Save nature for a better world)
(Save nature for a better )
Save nature for a better world
Message from Group 2's Mentor Ms Sarah Poonith-
I have been really impressed with the way that the group have pulled together to complete all the activities in time for the launch of the website. All the hard work (and tears) have really paid off! I would like to say 'well done'' to all the members of the team and I am really impressed with the final product- your website is spectacular. I hope this experience is one that you will never forget and you will take the skills you have learnt from it, such as working as a team, with you when you go to secondary school.
