September 24th-October 1st are homeschool days. Thank you so much for your continued partnership at Coastal Academy High School. We are committed to partnering with you to ensure your student's success this year! Unfortunately, when we secured QLN as our temporary location these dates were already reserved for a large conference. This said, teachers will be posting clear daily instructions on Schoology. The next day's assignment will be posted by 4 p.m the day prior. For example, all assignments for Tuesday, 9/25 will be accessible to students by Monday, 9/24 at 4 p.m. Classroom projects and assignments will be modified for a home setting. Timely check-ins and accountability with students will be ensured. Parents, please check in with your student daily to ensure they are staying on top of their schoolwork and do not hesitate to reach out to a teacher with any clarifying questions.
Our first conferences will be 9/28 & 10/1 at our Coastal Academy K-8 site. Our Coastal K-8 cousins are graciously allowing us space to meet with students & parents. If they haven't already, mentor advisory teachers will connect with you regarding scheduling for conferences. We will return to QLN on Tuesday, 10/2 for regular programming.
Monday Bell Schedule: Just a reminder, our Monday Bell Schedule is slightly different. Click here to access our bell schedule. Class periods are shortened by 15 minutes to allow for Self Directed Learning (SDL) at the end of the day. During this time students check in with their mentor, take content assessments, work on Power/Additional/Challenge Focus Areas and finish classwork. This is an essential component of our programming and required for all students taking any Summit course.
Summit Learning Newsletter: Click here to view our third Summit Parent Newsletter.
Check Schoology Daily: Please remind your student they should be checking Schoology daily for messages, course updates and announcements.
Dress Code: Last week there were many students in violation of our CAH Dress Code. Please take time to review our dress code with your student. Review the dress code by clicking here.
Attendance Email Address: If you wish to report an excused absence or tardy or you plan on picking up your student early please email cahattendance@classicalacademy.com. This will ensure your note gets delivered to the appropriate CAH Team Member.
Closed Campus: Coastal Academy High School is a closed campus. Once on campus students are required to remain on site until the conclusion of their school day.
Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures: As you arrive to school in the morning, please follow the signs and directions by driving all the way down the drop off lane. This prevents us backing up Avenida del Oro. Please do NOT make a left out of our parking under any circumstances. In the afternoon, please do not arrive more than 10 minutes prior to your designated pick up time. This will help prevent the parking lot from becoming overly congested. Alternatively, you can pick your student up in the Albertsons/Planet Fitness/KFC parking lot. It's a very short walk from our school and if time is of the essence, it may result in a quicker pickup time.

September 24th, 2018
Hello Coastal Academy High School families,
Last week was a wonderful week to be a Stingray! We ended our week together with Hawaiian Day & our school wide Town Hall meeting. During Town Hall, ASB shared important updates and a Homecoming Dance promo video. Fall athletic teams were honored and the CAH Cheer Team performed! We also conducted a Stingray Shoutout raffle and celebrated students living by our CAH Code of Conduct. Additionally, we recognized students who consistently set academic goals on the Summit Learning Platform. Both groups of students will have the opportunity to participate in a Principal's Pizza Party when we return to QLN in October. Thank you to the many parents who participated in our virtual "Coffee Chat" yesterday. We will have one again soon!
As you are aware, September 24th-October 1st are homeschool days. Unfortunately, when we secured QLN as our temporary location, these dates were already reserved for a large conference. This said, the CAH teacher team will be working and accessible all week to support your student's learning. Teachers will be connecting with students daily and posting clear daily instructions on Schoology.
Specifically, the next day's assignment will be posted by 4 p.m the day prior. I look forward to connecting with many of you at our first set of conferences on 9/28 & 10/1 at our Coastal Academy K-8 site.
Finally, it has come to my attention that several parents have observed what appears to be a homeless man within walking distance of CAH or the nearby Albertsons shopping center. Knowing many of our students walk off campus after school, I want to take this time to remind everyone to be aware of their surroundings and whenever possible, walk in groups. Please know, our CAH security team is aware and committed to ensuring the safety of all of our students. We also are coordinating our efforts with local authorities to ensure they are in the loop and supporting us moving forward.
Have a wonderful week of learning and please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any other teacher throughout the week. We are here for you!
Sincerely,
Samantha Bartrom
Principal
