A Note From Our Principal:
October 29, 2018
Happy Monday cherished CAH parent partners,
Can you believe we are a few days from October ending? This past week I've had the chance to visit many classrooms and chat with students about their learning. When I visit classrooms I ask students three primary questions: 1) What are you learning? 2) Why are you learning this? Or, why do you think this topic matters or is relevant? 3) How will you know when you've got it? How are you being assessed? Through these questions, I'm able to gauge the overall degree of student understanding and critical thinking. It has been such a joy to hear students share the "how" and the "why" of their learning. When students have clarity on learning objectives & what success looks like, achievement soars!
All of this said, I would like to invite you to join me four Thursdays in November & December for our first CAH Principal Parent Learning Institute. Over the course of these four sessions, participants will gain a better understanding of Summit Learning and see it in action through guided classroom visits. Classes will meet on 11/15, 11/29, 12/6 and 12/13. Our hour long class will include 30 minutes of education (reading/literature study) and 30 minutes of classroom visits. The class is limited to 10 parents. With enough interest, a second class may be formed. Click here to access the Google Sign Up sheet. The class meeting time will be finalized after participants indicate their preferred time of day. I look forward to learning and connecting with many of you at the institute!
Sincerely,
Samantha Bartrom
Principal
Coastal Academy High School
