Enhanced Personal and Social Education (PSE)
Whilst all our young people will access PSE in school, some may need additional focused work around health and relationships. This does not replace their PSE lessons in school, but will compliment and build on learning and understanding. In S1, the young people will look at a number of relevant topics, involving self awareness, decision making, family and friendships, and emotions.
Literacy Support
This course is designed to support the development of literacy skills for those learners who require additional support in this area. This does not replace their English lessons in school, but compliments and builds on learning and understanding.
Maths Recovery
Maths Recovery is an early intervention programme developed by Professor Robert Wright at Southern Cross University, New South Wales, Australia. It identifies children who are struggling with mathematics and enables them to advance to a level at which they can be successful in a classroom situation. It is a short-term intervention programme of usually two to twelve weeks. This intervention helps close the gaps before it is too wide and before children experience too much failure in mathematics.
The course is organised into four parts: Early arithmetic strategies and base-ten arithmetical strategies; Number word sequences and numerals; Structuring numbers 1 to 20 and Early multiplication and division.
