Virtual Fieldtrip Resources
This virtual trip is designed to get you thinking about coral reefs and what data we will collect in Tioman.
Feedback from previous students have said that they would like to have more practice at collecting data when snorkling. This is to get you used to collecting data. It will be different on Tioman but you will be better prepared.
Aims
1 - Get some information on the Coral Reefs - The presentation covers some aspects of the following. You will need to back it up with information from the NOAA pages.
Questions to answer -
What are reefs?
What conditions do they form in?
What is the socio-economic value of coral reefs?
What is the environmental value of coral reefs?
What are the threats to coral reefs?
How can we determine the health of a coral reef.
What are dome local responses.

Must do:
Click on the maps which take you to a page that shows the hotels at the resorts.
a) count the total number of reviews for the hotels - this will give you a good idea of popularity.
b) If you have time, use the google street view to wander around and get a feel for the place. What other data would you collect if you were there?
For Fun - After the lesson. Go the this AI song maker and see if you can make a better song than mine about coral reefs. Use the terminology from the lesson. Best song wins a Grammy.
