I have noticed that a lot of people does not seem to respect others despite their genders. One of them includes people making gender stereotypes along with people putting pressure on women related to their desired careers or the career that they are currently pursuing. I have seen these from media, along with other people's experiences, and my own experiences. I realized that gender inequality has become a big issue and it leaves a big impact on people, such as causing traumas, limiting people from expressing themselves, etc. Therefore, I created Semua Setara. Semua Setara is a personal project that aims to educate and raise awareness among people about gender stereotypes and traditional gender roles. In addition with my interest in business, I decided to create and sell clothing items that aims to promote gender equality as well.

☞ Specific: Since this year's Personal Project will be held online, I decided to create an Instagram platform where I raise awareness and educate people from age 12 and above and all gender about gender stereotypes and traditional gender roles. I educated people by raising awareness in a form of Instagram content and clothing items. As for the Instagram content, I talked about the definition of gender stereotypes and traditional gender roles, along with examples, what it looks like in real life, the impact it leaves on people, etc. While as for the clothing items, I put a message, along with a picture, and elements that represent gender equality.

☞ Measurable: In order for me to keep track of the progress of my Personal Project, I have a few methods that helped me manage the process for my Personal Project. This includes my Process Journal, my personal timeline, and communicate alternately with my supervisor. All of these 3 methods have helped me manage my time, keep track of the information that I have related to the Personal Project, and overall the whole progress of my Personal Project.

☞ Achievable: It is explicitly seen that there are some undoubted difficulties in doing this project such as searching for the clothing printing store, making the content, and designing the Instagram posts. After further thinking, these 3 difficulties are frankly attainable. In order to tackle these difficulties, I need commitment, consistency, do further research, think more realistically, and be communicative (ask others for help and communicate thoroughly with my supervisor about my progress) throughout the whole journey of doing this project. With those strategies, I believe that the project would not be that difficult anymore.

☞ Realistic: Since my goal for this personal project is for people to understand the concept of gender inequality through learning about what gender stereotypes and traditional gender roles are like, I hope that people will reflect, promote gender equality (stop making gender stereotypes and prevent traditional gender roles from happening) and continue to raise awareness to others about this issue in order to create a better world.

☞ Time-bound: With my goal aiming to raise awareness and educate others about gender stereotypes and traditional gender roles, and knowing whether I reached my goal or not, I should be able to finish it first. That way, I know the progress of my Personal Project by looking through the interactions that the Instagram account has such as the likes from the posts and the number of followers that it has. Other than that, the feedback forms would also be admiringly beneficial because then, I am able to see what I need to improve and what I have already achieved.

CHALLENGES

For the duration of time when I was doing my personal project, I indeed faced many challenges. Although, I was also happy with the result of my product since I reached my goal and got pleasing feedbacks from the general public. Doing this project individually was definitely burdensome and it was overall a new experience to me. The challenges that I faced would have to be dealing with procrastination along with time management. Dealing with procrastination and time management led me to rush the process of my Personal Project. There was some slight disappointment on the final product of my Personal Project, such as the fact that I should have interviewed more experts, made more Instagram content, and better design for the clothing items. The next challenge that I faced was the fact that I lacked confidence. I was unsure with the graphic design, Instagram content, and the design of the clothing items. I believe that this is one of the reason why I procrastinated. I overthink of the work that I have put into the project that I made. The last one would have to be how I easily lose motivation throughout the process of making this project. After some realization, when I looked at the feedback forms, people actually enjoyed the product of my Personal Project. I would say that I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to do this Personal Project. I was able to gain more knowledge and I hope that the difficulties that I faced would be a lesson for me in the future.
