About Me

Hello! We have lots of inspiring projects showcased in 2022's Sekolah Cikal Lebak Bulus Personal Project Exhibition, therefore, I highly appreciate your visit. My name is Gisela Annabel Windoe, Annabel for short. I am 16 years old and a 10th grade student at Sekolah Cikal Lebak Bulus.

I believe personal project was the perfect opportunity to channel my interests by creating an outlet of self-expression. To me, it had to be of great importance for the project to embody my love for science, exclusively, astronomy.

Through the course of my academic, I found that I wanted to expand my passion and understanding for astronomy. From there, not only had I realize the possibility of broadening my knowledge, but also the public society which led to the starting point of my project and the creation of @astroscopeid and https://www.astroscopereads.com/.

SMART GOAL

✰ Specific

To meet a high level of satisfaction through great performance, doing my best, and being content with my outcome to reach the best achievable grade. Furthermore, constructing an astronomy related project to compliment my lifelong love and passion for the field by creating informative writing published on a website alongside a social media platform; Instagram that allows me to incorporate my interest and skills in science, researching, reflecting, writing, and marketing by sharing information on a public platform.

✰ Measurable

Track progress by making use of different strategies such as breaking down my work into smaller tasks and creating a to-do list, therefore, this relates to how well, effective, and efficiently I manage my time. One indicator of success in terms of my progress is when I attain my timeline by ensuring the activities I do align with my timeline. Another indicator of success is my work quality which relates back to my principles because I value the quality of my work, because part of my goal is to publicly provide information, I will be sure to deliver it to my audience.

✰ Achievable

First step: Evaluation process. In the process of evaluating, I will try to understand myself and my situation. By understanding myself, I will be able to create courses of action to achieve my goals. I will enrich myself on the goal which ensures I understand my goal, what it is, why I set it, etc.

Second step: Planning process. In this step, I will take what I got from the evaluation process to create a feasible plan. I will focus on what is required to reach my goal.

Third step: Action process. Finally, once I have my vision and plan in place, it's time to start taking action towards my goal.

✰ Realistic

This goal is important to me because it plays a crucial role in my personal project as I believe it sets the course on how I will carry out my plan and creates a purpose to achieve a meaningful project. When I start to take action towards my goal, I continuously make sure my project aligns with my goal, meaning that my goal will also guide me and help me prioritize my responsibilities. Lastly, when I am faced with difficulty, my goal brings me motivation to push forward.

✰ Time Bound

Since the month of September is still considered the planning phase, the time will be used to evaluate and plan. Moving to October where I will enter the further investigation phase in which I will utilize to conduct research. Afterwards is the taking action phase; I will prepare for my action in November, and finally execute it in December. I should be completed with my product before 2022 with the final deadline of December 17th, 2021.

I have begun taking small steps to achieve my goal very early on; commencement week and all through the creation of my SMART goal and timeline. I have no hesitation towards accomplishing my goal, and I will feel closest to my goal when I execute my action which is to publish my articles and post on Instagram.

My product requires extensive research which includes all steps of a research process; find, interpret, judge, process, analyze, evaluate, and present information. More importantly, accessing information to be informed and inform others.

✰ Communication: Communication

Contributing to digital social media by displaying my work and sharing ideas in order to receive meaningful feedback and adjust to the many forms of communication. Ensuring the writing of competent and comprehensible articles based on collected information as a product of research from a wide range of resources targeted to different age groups to optimize engagement with audience in conjunction with high applicability to my chosen media; website and Instagram account and following appropriate requirements.

✰ Through the course of my research, I had a vast list of primary and secondary resources one of which is the privilege of getting to know and interviewing Ibu Dewi; an Astronomy graduate from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and part of Indonesian media for astronomy; Langitselatan.

RESEARCH RESULTS & PROCESS

I make to-do lists that are made up of three big groups; research, writing articles and designing Instagram posts. Out of the three big groups, I will be able to distinguish smaller tasks that require completion. An indication of whether my workflow is on track is the gradual completion of articles. The writing process calls for taking a topic from my list of ideas to be written on the draft document. Afterwards, a research is conducted and when the draft has been completed, I move it to the final document for double-checking. At last, publish the articles on my website, and design a post out of it. This process is repeated until it meets the targeted number of articles and posts.

✰ July - September 2021

During this time, I was briefed and introduced to personal project and started planning for the project which included the creation of the SMART goal, personal project timeline and journal. Furthermore, brainstorm possible project ideas where I finalized towards the end of September and was exemplified by the presentation of my proposal.

✰ October 2021

The further investigation phase where I gathered information on the topic of astronomy, the leading social media application, and the best platforms to build my website that I recorded on my personal project journal.

✰ November - December 2021

The taking action phase which was described by making and publishing the product whereby I wrote & published 11 articles and designed & posted 10 Instagram posts. I retained my activity on social media by posting various Instagram stories that are stored in the account's highlights.

✰ January - March 2022

The making of the personal project report took place in early 2022. On account of this, there were active discussions on the report outline and guidance. Beyond that, I created a feedback form to collect responses from my audience, and an academic honesty form.

PRODUCT

The product AstroScope established are website articles and an established Instagram account all of which follow the appropriate requirements I set earlier on the proposal.

Reflecting: Looking Back

✰ CHALLENGES ✰

The prominent challenge was in the subject of time. I withdrew from my initial plan of gradually publishing my product and collecting responses after each publishing date. Although I still got the chance to design posts after each article was finished and retain a progressive publication by posting 2-3 posts everyday, I decided it was best for me to finish all articles and publish them all on the website at the same time due to the month of December being accompanied by semester exams and summative assessments which made me revise my initial dates.

✰ PERSONAL IMPACT ✰

Personal project impacted my life in a way that it became the stepping stone to study astronomy. AstroScope made me realize that I am still fully able of developing my knowledge in astronomy outside of the classroom or institution. Moreover, it has taught me that I am able to transform myself and others by doing something I love most.

✰ COMMUNITY IMPACT ✰

Through AstroScope, not only will I be making a platform for myself to become proficient in astronomy, but also giving back to my community by sharing my understanding through the provision of information. Extracted from my feedback form, people found AstroScope as a really educational platform – saying the posts were very informative and engaging. It gave my audience the ability to understand further about astronomy from various topics that they have not previously known.

✰ NEXT PLAN TO SUSTAIN THE PROJECT ✰

I hope to sustain AstroScope as my passion project by maintaining the activeness of both the website and Instagram account. I have several notable plans that would further bring the best out of AstroScope in the near and far future.
