Kerri-Anne Mitchell, DrPH, MPH is an Assistant Professor in Social and Behavioral Health at Austin College in Sherman, TX. She was a fellow in the NCI-funded T32 postdoctoral training program at VCU Massey Cancer. Under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Brown, she has focused on understanding the mechanisms by which aspects of patient-centered care and communication can influence the clinical outcomes of cancer patients and care disparities.
While pursuing doctorate she engaged in both independent and collaborative research projects at UT Health and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center focused on understanding patient-centered cancer care, chronic disease prevention, and health promotion. She also has professional experience in employee health promotion and service-learning. In her time at VCU, Dr. Mitchell collaborated with her VCU colleagues on multiple research projects related to communication in cancer care including. She also leads a team of researchers from the International Association of Communication in Healthcare (0EACH) in conducting a systematic review of clinician-patient communication coding systems.
