EACH is an interdisciplinary non-profit organization which brings together researchers and trainers in the field of communication in healthcare. Its objectives are to facilitate the exchange of ideas and products of teaching and research activities across a network of individuals and institutions in Europe and beyond. EACH is associated with the scientific journal Patient Education and Counseling. Together with her sister organization ACH (American Academy on Communication in Healthcare), EACH organizes annual International Conferences on Communication in Healthcare (ICCH). In the even years, EACH is the main organizer for the ICCH in Europe, in the uneven years ACH is the main organizer for the ICCH in the USA/Canada.
Dr. Brown is actively involved with the EACH Advisory Committee which consists of all National and Deputy National Representatives from member countries and all members of the Executive Committee. The committee's goal is to facilitate international collaboration, support its members, and shape the direction of EACH activities.
Dr. Brown served as the United States National Representative between 2015-2021 or three terms for EACH. Since 2019 he has also served as co-chair as the Advisory Committee to EACH.
The Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH) is the professional home for all who are committed to improving communication and relationships in healthcare. The ACH accomplishes its mission by offering collaboration, support and personal and professional development through welcoming researchers, educators, clinicians, patients, advocates and all members of healthcare teams.
The ACH believes that the healing human relationships among healthcare professionals, patients, and their families is a critical aspect of healthcare. Likewise, that highly performing interpersonal and inter-professional delivery systems are necessary to achieve the greatest benefit from healthcare services.
Dr. Brown was elected Fellow of the ACH in 2021. The executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the ACH proposes to honor publicly those of its members who make substantial contributions to the ACH mission by awarding to those individuals the honor of being designated a Fellow fo the ACH (FACH).
