Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation

Representative: Erin Steigleder

Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF) is a statewide, Richmond-based nonprofit committed to the eradication of breast cancer through education and advocacy. Their goals are to establish the eradication of breast cancer as a state and national priority, advocate for the collective needs of people affected by breast cancer, and educate all Virginians on the facts about breast cancer. Erin Steigleder is a VBCF representative and point of contact with our lab.

Virginia Dept. of Health, Division of Disease Prevention

Representative: Ted Heck, PhD

Ted Heck works at the Virginia Dept. of Health in the Division of Disease Prevention, where he serves as Contract Monitor for the AIDS Services and Education Grants program and as the Transgender Health Services Specialist. Current activities at VDH include maintaining the Virginia Transgender Resource and Referral List and offering provider trainings and technical assistance on transgender issues.

For his Masters in Criminal Justice, Ted’s thesis was on prevention services and services for survivors of hate violence against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. Ted serves on the Governing Body of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, where he was a founding Governing Body member, and he helped to found the Virginia Anti-Violence Project, where he served on the board for seven years before leaving to make room for more diverse leadership.
